Frankenfood or Modern Miracle? What Are GMOs?
With all this talk about GMO’s, it’s worth taking a moment to explain what exactly makes a food product GMO or not. Essentially, GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) are plants and animals that has had its DNA changed to produce a certain outcome, often helping plants fight off bugs and other potential risks, which in turn ensures a stable yield for farmers.
The problem is that GMOs are largely untested in humans and have been shown to cause cancer in animals. With no labeling on products, the pervasive nature of these modified foods makes them difficult for consumers to spot and avoid.

When supermarkets and eateries find themselves with extra food that can’t be sold, they usually just toss it into the dumpster out back. Every year, up to 15 billion pounds of food go to waste. But this exorbitant amount of leftover food could mean many less hungry days for hundreds of thousands of people.
You can help put an end to this terrible practice. Sign the petition asking the Chairman of the Food Industry Association to create incentives for America’s food service providers to donate their extra food to the 30 million Americans who go hungry every day. Click here to help!
