Jon Bon Jovi’s Nonprofit Restaurants Are Giving Free Meals To People In Need
Jon Bon Jovi is a rock and roll legend, a true superstar. While it would be easy for him to remain quarantined during these difficult times, he is stepping up to make sure that everyone is well taken care of. Instead of writing a check, he is pitching in to assist his team on the ground. He is well known for his charitable contributions and already heads up a number of helpful organizations.
He even shared a picture of himself washing dishes at one of his restaurants in New Jersey. Those who have been to JBJ Soul Kitchen in the past are probably well aware of their “pay what you can” policy. This policy is designed to give those who need a leg up the necessary assistance. During these challenging times, the restaurant is now allowing people to eat for free.
The Instagram post that Jon Bon Jovi shared is a touching one. If we cannot do what we do, we need to step up and do what we can. Typically, the JBJ Soul Kitchen allows patrons to volunteer their time as a means of paying for their meals. New Jersey is currently in a state of emergency and that means that no volunteering can take place at the present moment.
This has forced Jon Bon Jovi and his team to get as creative as possible. There are two different Soul Kitchen locations who are relying on their regular staffers to serve free meals. Of course, they are only offering carry out at this time. Kudos to them for helping the community and doing their best to keep everyone safe in the process.
The rocker is not the only famous person who is taking time out to help the hungry. Chef José Andrés is a philanthropist by nature. He is now converting some of his Washington, DC area restaurants into free kitchens for area residents. Jaleo is one of the first restaurants that he was able to open. It is now serving a new function as a local kitchen and he shared the news with his Instagram followers in an emotional post.
These makeshift relief centers take some of the pressure off the rest of these communities. During a time when many people are unsure of where their next meal or mortgage payment is coming from, restaurants like these serve a very crucial function. We are happy to see so many familiar faces joining the relief efforts.
