Nepal: End Crackdown on Tibetans

Historically, Nepal has been a safe haven for Tibetans fleeing from China.

Since 2008, however, Human Rights Watch reported increasing hostility to Tibetan refugees within Nepal. The Nepali government, under pressure from China, has begun cracking down on Tibetans who protest against China by illegally detaining them, brutalizing political prisoners, and limiting their right to assembly, dress, and religious practice. Nepal has also denied Tibetans refugee status and refused to issue identity papers.
