Success! Egg-Laying Hens Arrive in Haiti

55602Thanks to your generous donations, eighty egg-laying hens arrived in the village of Matenwa in Haiti last week!

Two coops have been built, and two more are in the works. For now, students at the Lekòl Kominotè Matènwa school will be caring for the chickens. Each week, a group of children will be in charge of caring for their community’s coop, including feeding the animals and cleaning the coops.

In July, families will come to the school to build individually-sized coops and receive a chicken of their own.

This is just the latest effort in GreaterGood’s Girls Access to Opportunity Worldwide (G.R.O.W.). We will continue to work with the people of Matenwa to nurture their community and help them work towards a self-sustaining state where all children have access to a full-term, secondary education and the tools they need to succeed.
