Improving Sanitation Standards in India
In India, it’s estimated that more than half of the nation’s households don’t have access to lavatories. The lack of sanitation causes every one in ten deaths in India and results in billions of dollars in economic loss.
To respond to the pressing issue of hygiene, the Indian government created The Total Cleanliness Drive. Their efforts to confront this cultural issue have drastically improved sanitation and public health in some parts of India. As a result, fewer communicable diseases are being reported in villages with modern waste management.
